Indian bison, sambar deer, wild boar and several monkey species including langur and macaque are a few of the well-known wildlife species that may be found in the various wildlife sanctuaries in Goa. Although sightings are somewhat infrequent, the area is also well-known for its elusive local big cat, the Indian leopard.
Goa is a haven for birdwatchers thanks to the abundance of bird species that call its coastal regions, estuaries and mangrove forests, home. A wide variety of winged marvels makes it the ideal place for bird watching in Goa. Both resident and migratory can be seen here, from the recognisable kingfisher to the majestic sea eagle.
The state's marine biodiversity is equally amazing and its coastal waters are home to a variety of species. The Arabian Sea is home to dolphins, sea turtles and many different fish species, providing marine enthusiasts with a rare opportunity to partake in activities like dolphin watching and snorkelling.
